FOREMMS is an European Commission funded project that seeks to develop and demonstrate an advanced forest environmental monitoring and management system prototype.
The system comprises satellite monitoring, airborne monitoring, automatic and manual field measurements. Data from regional, national and international areas will be stored in an advanced multi-scale database.
ELE International is a partner in the project and will install and integrate EMS automatic monitoring stations in 3 test areas during the project.
The EMS will be fitted with a range of meteorological, soil and gas sensors. The stations will provide a continuous record of these parameters which will be transmitted using the GSM telephone system.
