The insulated pattern themometer is left in the soil, with the added advantage that readings can be taken in-situ without disturbing the instrument. The lower portion is placed vertically in the earth with the bulb at the required depth, and the insulated thermometer stem and opal scale are supported on a black-enamelled mild steel angle bracket. The range is -10°C to +55°C divided into 2.0°C intervals
For use up to 300 mm depth.
