The Kelly Ball Apparatus measures the workability of concrete by the depth of penetration test. This simple field test determines the depth to which the apparatus will sink under its own weight into fresh concrete. It is particularly suited to the quick checking of fresh concrete delivered to site in skips, wheelbarrows, etc.

The apparatus consists of a 30 lb. (14 kg) cylindrical weight, stirrup and a handle graduated in increments of 1/4” (6.35 mm).
